Position Description – Early Childhood Educator

Service: Deniliquin Childcare Centre
Employment: Permanent Full-Time – minimum 4 days per week
Hours: Rostered within service hours of 8:00am–6:00pm
Reports to: Nominated Supervisor / Service Leadership Team

Position Purpose

The Early Childhood Educator provides high-quality education and care for children aged 0–5 years within a safe, nurturing, inclusive and engaging learning environment.

Working collaboratively with children, families and colleagues, the educator contributes to play-based learning that supports each child’s wellbeing, development, learning and agency.

Key Responsibilities

The Early Childhood Educator will:

• Place the safety, rights and wellbeing of children at the centre of all practice and decision-making.

• Build positive, respectful and nurturing relationships with children.

• Provide high-quality education and care that responds to children’s individual strengths, interests, needs and development.

• Contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of play-based learning aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).

• Create engaging indoor and outdoor environments that encourage exploration, creativity, independence and appropriate risk-taking.

• Maintain active supervision and support children’s wellbeing, routines and personal care needs.

• Promote inclusion and respect the culture, background, abilities and individual needs of every child and family.

• Build positive, professional partnerships with families and support children’s connections with the wider community.

• Understand and meet child protection, mandatory reporting and child-safe practice responsibilities, including maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.

• Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute positively to team culture, reflective practice and continuous improvement.

• Maintain professional, respectful and confidential communication and conduct.

• Work in accordance with the National Law and Regulations, National Quality Framework, EYLF, ECA Code of Ethics, relevant child protection and WHS requirements, and RREE policies, procedures, philosophy and Code of Conduct.

About You

You will:

• Hold an approved Certificate III, Diploma or Bachelor qualification in Early Childhood Education and Care, or be willing to work towards a qualification through a traineeship.

• Be caring, patient and responsive to children.

• Communicate positively and respectfully with children, families and colleagues.

• Demonstrate initiative, reliability and a willingness to learn.

• Work collaboratively and contribute positively to a team.

• Be open to feedback, reflection and ongoing professional development.

Essential Requirements

The successful applicant will be required to hold or obtain:

• An approved early childhood qualification or enrolment in an approved traineeship.

• A current Working with Children Check.

• Required child protection training.

• First aid, asthma and anaphylaxis qualifications as required for the role.

• Any other checks or training required by legislation or RREE policy.
